This is a piece of contemporary art by Tracey Emin called ‘My Bed’. Tracey shows us her own bed, in the most embarrassing state which includes, empty booze bottles, fag butts, stained sheets, worn panties: the bloody aftermath of a nervous breakdown. By presenting her bed as art, she shares her most personal space, revealing she’s as insecure and imperfect as the rest of the world. Using this as inspiration, we aim to make the bedroom in the video like this to show the personalities of the characters. And for the digipak, we have an idea of using a close up of the unmade bed as one of the images to get the message across of what the song means without even having to listen to it. It also helps us to connect with the target audience as they will be able to relate to this particular state of the bedroom.
These 3 images are examples of pictures that could be used inside the digipak. The orginal picture is in the middle and I have enhanced the colour on the top one as I feel that a brighter picture would suit Chase and Status' image better. Then, I also thought that as the song it about hurt that red may not be the best colour to use so I changed the colour to a bright blue which I think puts a different edge on the photo and would look great in the digipak.
I saw these pictures and thought instead of using a stereotypical heart as an image, that using a real heart would put a different look on the digipak and although it still uses the red colour, it still looks pretty dark and gloomy which doesn't take away the dark feel that the song gives off. We could use this image on the back where the songs will be shown and using the idea of Florence and the Machines' album, lungs, we could put arrows from the different areas of the heart with the labels being the different songs.
These images are similar to the first hearts, however they are a bit more simple. I changed the colour on these picture to green as it could show the jealousy which we will show within our video.
These two image show a brick wall. Ignoring the woman in the top image, the idea is that the two girls will be stood in the middle, where that woman is either kissing or hugging each other, however the twist on this is that they will be covering there actual faces with each others arms so make it more secretive and it keeps the same theme as we hope to put in our video where the only faces being shown are the main characters. We thought that we could write Chase and Status on two different arms on the woman and for the title of the song 'heartbeat' our idea was that it could be spray painted onto the wall very big above the women, maybe in a green which again shows jealousy that will be shown within our video.
Here are the last two images I found and I think that it fits perfectly with the song. I changed the colour to thedark purple as I feel that this fits in better with the song. And also, the silloette style again keeps with the theme that the faces are not being shown.
